Crom Carmichael: When Radicals Control the Levers of Power, They Will Ignore the Law

Live from Music Row Monday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. –  host Leahy welcomed the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio.

During the third hour, Carmichael discusses the recent confiscation of private citizens firearms by St. Louis Attorney General Kim Gardner in response to defending themselves against Black Lives Matter rioters.

Leahy: Crom, lots of crazy things going on out there. Apparently, in St. Louis the First Amendment no longer applies.

Carmichael: First or second?

Leahy: Second. I’m sorry.

Carmichael: OK. Well, it could be both.

Leahy: No, no, no,  no. I stand corrected. The Second Amendment.

Carmichael: Well, it’s even worse than that because this couple that we are talking about.

Leahy: McClosky. I remember all the Irish names.

Carmichael: They were sitting outside their house having dinner in a private neighborhood, a gated community.

Leahy: A gated community.

Carmichael: And 200 or 300 rioters broke down the gate to get into their community and then came to their house and screaming at them that they were going to murder them, burn down their house and kill their dog. And so the McCloskeys went inside and she got a pistol and he got a rifle, an AR-15. It was a rifle. But they legally had the right to own both. Now Missouri is also an open carry state but the prosecutor in St. Louis has sent authorities to their home and taken their guns from them.

Leahy: That’s not legal under the Second Amendment, is it?

Carmichael: I don’t care about the Second Amendment. I’m talking bout Missouri law. With Missouri law, you have the right to open carry. So the Second Amendment comes into play in the sense that they were protecting their property. But Missouri law gives you the right to have a gun and brandish a gun if its to protect your life or your property.

Leahy: That’s what they were doing.

Carmichael: Yes, that’s exactly what they were doing. And that’s what Missouri law says. And this is a great danger. I don’t want to just tell the story, I want to talk about the danger of this. When you have these radicals who get control of the levers of power they will do things are not only wrong. They are both wrong and they are illegal. So it doesn’t’ matter what the law is when these people are in power they ignore the law.

I told you I’m reading books about the French Revolution and about the 100 days up to Hitler, that’s exactly what the brown shirts and Hitler did. They just ignored the law. They rioted. They brutalized people. If you were one of their enemies they would kill you. Literally kill you. And if the Left keeps going like this that is where we will end up.

Leahy: I think you are right.

Carmichael: It will end up with people dying.

Leahy: That particular prosecutor, Kim Gardner, far left was elected because of support by…George Soros.

Carmichael: And the question for me, you have all this talk about police need to be held liable for when they make mistakes and then the question who gets to decide what a mistake is. In other words, that’s nebulous. In this case, what this prosecutor is doing is completely against the laws of the state of Missouri. Yet apparently the McCloskeys cannot sue her. Michael, as you know I’m a great believer that in a civil society people must be treated equally.

And if anybody in authority can be civilly sued and I’m saying a police officer. If anybody in civil society can be civilly sued, then anyone else who is also in those types of positions. For example, if the Supreme Court had ruled that Trump must release his tax returns then I think that Trump could say well, there are 3,000 judges, I want to see all of their tax returns because I’m sure some of them had done something wrong. And we need to know this.

Leahy: Let’s go fishing for them.

Carmichael: Fishing at the judges. And let’s go fish at state senators and governors. In other words, if Trump is not above the law than no one else is either.

Leahy: Exactly right.

Carmichael: Then you spiral down into an abyss.
